Tutoring

We have many opportunities available if your child needs extra support in academic areas. Please see the times below for tutoring hours. Your child's teachers may also recommend tutoring if your child would benefit from additional supports.
Tutoring for BMS will begin on Monday, September 8. All students staying for tutoring will receive an after school snack.
Please call Mrs. Karnes at 573-568-4283 with any questions you may have.

Missing Assignments- NEW PROCEDURE

Our new procedure for students who have missing assignments is that those students will be assigned a MANDATORY TUTORING after school the following day, from 3:10-4:10. If students come to class without their assignment that was due, they will receive a slip notifying them of the mandatory tutoring. The tutoring will be the opportunity for the student to complete the assignment and the consequence for not having work complete. Parents must arrange transportation for the student at 4:10 on the day of the tutoring.

BMS House System- A PLACE FOR EVERYONE TO BELONG!

On Friday, August 29, we held our 5th Annual BMS House Sorting Ceremony! For families new to our building, we utilize a House System as a way to bring all of our students together. Everyone in our building is in a House. Each House has traditions, history, and principles they stand for. Our four Houses are:

  • ALTRUISMO, the House of Givers
  • AMISTAD, the House of Friendship
  • ISIBINDI, the House of Courage
  • REVEUR, the House of Dreamers

Our House System gives EVERYONE a group to be a part of. We compete against each other to see which House can earn the most points each week, quarter, and for the whole year. Students earn points for academic achievements, attendance, following our building expectations, good character, and school spirit (joining a club or sport, attending sporting events, etc). The competitions can be very close and exciting!

EVERY Wednesday is HOUSE SPIRIT DAY! We all wear our House color and can sit with our House members to eat lunch. Students will receive their House shirts for this year in a few weeks. We have a House meeting once a month with a lesson to work on service projects, and then we also have House competitions with team-building activities once each month. The lessons and games are led by our House Leaders, who are 8th grade students selected to lead their Houses for the year.

Mindful Mornings

BMS will be trying something new this year! We will come inside a few minutes early in the morning to have a “morning meeting” with our first hour classes (7:50-8:00 am). We encourage ALL students to be on campus by 7:45 am to attend. We will review announcements, House news, and discuss topics to help your child navigate middle school. We will work on organization, growth mindset, social-emotional learning, and Wildcat Way character traits. Help us make the most of this time to set your child up for success at BMS!
